LOAD-BEARING CONSTRUCTIONS TO MOVE BIG THINGS THANKS TO HIGH YIELD STRENGTHS AND MAXIMUM STRENGTH

For lightweights who move big things

MAXIL® high-strength steels are characterized by their low dead weight and high load-bearing capacity. They are an ideal solution for machines and supporting structures that must withstand maximum loads. This fine-grained structural steel impresses with its high strength and excellent toughness. With guaranteed yield strengths of up to 1300 MPa, MAXIL® steels provide greater added value and expanded design possibilities.

Maximum load capacity with minimum weight

Where the heaviest loads are lifted or transported, lightweight yet strong constructions are required. MAXIL® steels meet the highest material and production requirements thanks to their high strength. The combination of high strength and toughness enables constructions with low dead weight and high load-bearing capacity.

Thanks to their optimal chemical composition, these high-strength steels offer excellent processing properties while retaining their strength. Due to their reduced carbon content, MAXIL® steels require lower preheating temperatures, offer optimal formability, and provide a high level of toughness.

State-of-the-art process technology for maximum quality

At the heart of our heat treatment line is the state-of-the-art multifunctional quench, which came into operation in 2021. Water distribution tailored specifically to each plate ensures consistently high quality. To achieve a high-quality, scale-free surface, the plates undergo pre-blasting prior to heat treatment. They are then heated in an energy-efficient furnace in a nitrogen atmosphere, which prevents renewed scaling and ensures a homogeneous surface. Tempering takes place in the multifunctional quench, where further microstructural properties are adjusted using defined cooling strategies.

Overcoming limits with MAXIL®

MAXIL® steels are lighter yet stronger, making them ideal for vehicles and equipment. Thanks to their high yield and tensile strengths, they are ideal for applications requiring range and load-bearing capacity at the lowest possible weight. Looking for the right grade for your application? You will find some application examples here. Our specialists will be happy to advise you on your specific project.

Crane boom - mobile crane

Thanks to its reduced dead weight and high strength, the height and lifting capacity of mobile lifting equipment can be significantly increased. MAXIL®'s yield strength of up to 1,300 MPa allows cranes to reach farther while optimizing the processing properties of the high-strength material.

Low-Loader

When producing special vehicles for heavy-duty transportation, it is essential to have high tensile strength and payload capacity with comparatively low material weight. MAXIL®, a high-strength special steel, ensures lighter constructions and higher load-bearing capacity in carriers and chassis while meeting the highest quality and uniformity requirements.

Offshore-Installation-Systems

Wind turbines installed on the high seas require stable and resilient installation systems that can absorb high forces while being designed to be as light as possible. MAXIL® steel, which is highly strong and lightweight, meets these requirements and is characterized by optimized weldability.

pump storage plant

High-strength steels are used in pumped storage plants to safely withstand loads and extend the plant's service life. MAXIL®, a special steel, makes it possible to reduce the thickness of pressure vessel walls, thus helping to make the plant lighter and more cost-effective.

CO2-reduced steel for a green future

Steel impresses not only as a solid building material, but also due to its high level of flexibility. It is also ideal for sustainable recycling as it is durable, reusable and 100% recyclable. Heavy plates produced from CO2-reduced slabs effectively contribute to decarbonising value chains and achieving sustainability goals.
The production of CO2-reduced green steel using the electric arc furnace route is already possible with SALCOS®. Using green electricity from wind power and 100% scrap recycling enables SALCOS® heavy plate to achieve a CO₂ value of just 524 kg CO₂eq per tonne. We are currently seeking certification in accordance with the Low Emission Steel Standard. We are using an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) to provide transparent information on the environmental impact of heavy plate made from scrap-based electrical steel.
