Navantia S.A. Order for Offshore Wind Farm Dieppe-Le Tréport

12.04.2023 | Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH

Navantia S.A. awarded Ilsenburger Grobblech and Salzgitter Mannesmann Grobblech with 60.000t of heavy plates for the Dieppe-Le Tréport Offshore Wind Project

In March 2023 Salzgitter Mannesmann Grobblech and Ilsenburger Grobblech were awarded with 60.000t of heavy steel plates for the French Dieppe-Le Tréport Offshore Wind Project. The plates will be supplied for the piles and jackets.

The Dieppe-Le Tréport offshore wind farm is being built offshore from the coastal towns of Dieppe and Le Tréport in Normandy, France, by the company Éoliennes en Mer Dieppe Le Tréport. Due to come online in 2026, the wind farm will have an installed capacity of 496MW. It is estimated to require an investment of about €2bn ($2.27bn). The wind farm is expected to generate enough power to meet the electricity needs of approximately 850,000 people.

The DieppeLe Tréport wind farm will be located on an area of approximately 82km², 17km from Dieppe and 15.5km from Le Tréport, in the French side of La Manche/the English Channel. It is being developed at water depths between 14m and 24m.

The project will be powered by 62 8MW Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbines with each turbine installed 1,100m to 1,300m apart. The 62 turbines will generate app. 2,000GWh a year.

Both heavy plate mills will produce for the project from 6mm to 100mm heavy plates and supply these just in time for Navantia’s fabricators in Spain. A local distribution stock will be established in Gijon to be able to meet the stringent delivery plan.

This is another important step for the strategy of Salzgitter AG to support the transformation for green and sustainable energy.
