When placing an order with Ilsenburger Grobblech, customers can expect not only excellent product quality but also outstanding service. The optimal service experience begins with a convenient and user-friendly ordering process and ends with the punctual and reliable delivery of the ordered plates. The later is examined in sub-project 6.1 "Shipment and logistics". From the development of new distribution logistics strategies to the standardization of shipping requirements and effective measures to optimize loading times, various activities have already been implemented that are ensuring significant performance improvements in the logistics process.

The rapid delivery of Ilsenburg quality heavy plates is a key factor of the RISE program. In addition to various packages of measures such as the optimization of distribution logistics or investments in plant logistics, the automation of shipping processes is currently playing a decisive role. Starting with a standardized set of rules for shipping requirements at the order entry stage through to the planned introduction of the LAVAS dispatch and scheduling software, the framework conditions created are intended to ensure the optimum automation of our shipping processes.

The introduction of VELOSA is a first step that contributes significantly to improving the performance of shipping logistics. Whereas in the past manual and non-transparent time slot bookings led to long waiting and loading times, the web-based application now enables reliable and precise booking of loading slots. With the help of VELOSA, logistics partners can book time slots transparently and precisely, guaranteeing direct passage to the loading point. The on-demand booking of loading slots leads to improved planning and reduced downtime for transport service providers. "It is a win-win situation for both sides, because VELOSA enables us to achieve greater efficiency in our processes and ensures planning reliability for our logistic partners in their day-to-day business," confirms Veith Sperber, RISE subproject manager responsible for the introduction of the new tool. The precise slots provide a clear overview of the truck sequence, which the dispatch warehouse can use to prepare the upcoming deliveries, accordingly, resulting in more efficient and shorter loading times. Through targeted monitoring and close dialog with the carriers, slot compliance is monitored and fine-tuned in real time.

The introduction of VELOSA has already led to significant improvements in delivery performance. This is just the beginning of the automation of logistics processes. The next major project is already in process with the Group-wide implementation of the LAVAS dispatch and scheduling software. Currently, the team is developing a set of rules that will form the basis of the new software and consider customer-specific requirements. The introduction of LAVAS, which is scheduled for the first half of the year, is expected to enable largely automated scheduling.
