The steel trade, in its demand for "Green Steel", is sending a clear signal towards a sustainable industry. With Wassermann GmbH & Co KG, another important trading partner for Ilsenburger Grobblech reaffirms its interest in CO2-reduced heavy steel plates from the SALCOS® route of the Salzgitter Group. This is a future-looking step for the company, supporting the transformation of the entire steel industry.

For more than 50 years, the family-owned steel company Wassermann has stood for customer orientation, flexibility and now also for "Green Steel". The wide range of heavy plates is individually processed in leading construction industries, as well es machinery and plant construction.

"Our customers can now respond to the new tenders and requirements, entering highly lucrative markets in 'Green Projects'. This is an opportunity and added value for the environment, companies and future security," summarizes Ingo Wassermann (Managing Director) regarding the expansion of the portfolio. "The transformation of the entire steel industry requires proactive partners like the Wassermanns, who, with lived commitment, contribute directly to positioning our quality products in the international market," adds Tony Dachner about Wassermann's new product line "Green Steel".

The SALCOS® program is the key to low-CO2 quality steel in the Salzgitter Group. With a gradual transition to hydrogen-based processes, virtually CO2-free steel production is expected from 2033 onwards. This involves replacing the traditional blast furnace route with direct reduction and electric arc furnaces. Ilsenburger Grobblech can already be supplied with low carbon steel from the group's own plant in Peine. The slabs are produced in the electric arc furnace using scrap metal. These are important steps to enable our customers to meet the growing demand for "Green Steel" and to remain competitive.
