High-Strength Quarto Plate from Ilsenburg for Liebherr
The long-standing partner of Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH, Liebherr, is one of the first customers to receive plates from the MAXIL® series that were produced in the world's most modern heat treatment line at the Ilsenburg site.
Around 32 Tt of heavy plate from the new line has been produced in the first half of 2021, with further quantities for various customers to follow in the second half of 2021.
The high-strength MAXIL® grades S690 and S960 pass through the newly installed integrated MultiFlex quench, which enables Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH to meet even the highest quality and flatness requirements of its customers thanks to extremely flexible cooling strategies. The focus of the particularly demanding range is on high-strength and wear-resistant steels of the MAXIL® and BRINAR® series. This means an expansion of the sophisticated product range of Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH, especially in the premium segment.
Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH is thus one of Liebherr's approved suppliers, providing the plants in Nenzing, Rostock and Ehingen with high-strength quarto plate, which is used, among other things, for the manufacturing of construction machinery, mobile and crawler cranes, and in maritime cargo handling.
Caterpillar Crane LR 1280
The LR 1280 caterpillar crane with a rated engine capacity of 612 hp at 1,900 rpm is deployed under extremely wearing conditions. Our BRINAR® series sheets with their optimized alloy concept make sure that also those parts most exposed to abrasion are fit for a long service life.
Aircraft Towing Tractor AST-1
The tow-bar-free tractors of the AST-1 move aircraft weighing up to 425 tones. The redundancy of the tow bar and the faster driving speed of these tractors accelerate aircraft movements by factor three compared to conventional tow-bar tractors.
The frame for the AST-1 is made of high tensile MAXIL® fine-grained steel. Sheets with thicknesses up to 100 millimeters are welded together to build a tow truck frame weighing approximately 10 tons.
