Shaping Industrial Transformation Together: “Smart Industry Orchestration Ilsenburg” Feasibility Study Launched

With the launch of the Smart Industry Orchestration Ilsenburg feasibility study, we have begun working together with the Fraunhofer Institute, representatives of the Ministry for Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the local municipality on the future development of Ilsenburg as an industrial and energy hub. The project aims to prepare the transformation of energy-intensive industrial processes at the site while identifying opportunities for broader regional development.
For Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH, the feasibility study is closely linked to the long-term development of its production site. As an energy-intensive industrial company, we have significant potential to reduce CO₂ emissions. Realizing these transformation pathways, however, requires technological innovation to go hand in hand with a reliable energy supply, efficient infrastructure, and competitive economic framework conditions.
At the same time, industrial transformation does not stop at the factory gate. In addition to Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH, many other companies in Ilsenburg and the surrounding region depend on a future-proof energy and infrastructure supply. For this reason, the feasibility study deliberately adopts a holistic approach. Together with industry partners, energy stakeholders, research institutions, and the City of Ilsenburg, existing and future requirements will be assessed and potential synergies identified. The objective is to strengthen the connection between industrial development, energy supply, and infrastructure while unlocking opportunities for the entire regional economy.

The results of the feasibility study will contribute to the development of a shared vision for the site and the region. At the same time, they will provide a sound basis for evaluating future investment and development decisions and preparing the next steps toward industrial and energy transformation.
