SETUp network meeting for a systemic and sustainable energy transformation

As part of the SETUp study, the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF identified the challenges and opportunities facing energy-intensive companies in Saxony-Anhalt, formulating specific recommendations for strategic action in the process. As a SETUp consortium partner, we continue to actively promote the exchange of ideas on future technologies, having recently hosted the second consortium meeting.
Further developing our high-performance heavy plate rolling mill to incorporate new future technologies is an essential step for Ilsenburger Grobblech in the context of energy transformation. To promote the exchange of experience and scientifically sound ideas, we have joined the SETUp network at the Fraunhofer IFF. This network identifies strategic recommendations for action for energy-intensive industries in Saxony-Anhalt.
As hosts of the second SETUp network meeting, we were able to present our company and provide a framework for the network. In addition to participants from regional companies exchanging experiences, new approaches from research and development were presented. Future furnace and plant concepts, as well as possible applications for battery storage and alternative solutions, played an important role. The programme concluded with a tour of our impressive plant.
It was a successful event that once again demonstrated how diverse perspectives and knowledge transfer can lead to powerful solutions within companies.
