Salzgitter Group awarded extended material approval for SECURE 500® security steel and new approval for SECURE 450®

- SECURE 500® now also meets the requirements of the Technical Delivery Conditions 2350-0000 in the 6-25 mm dimensions and is thereby also approved for further application areas in the German Armed Forces
- Now additionally certified: SECURE 450® in the dimensions 6-20 mm
- Consequently, it is now possible to supply more than 50 percent of the steel required for a given military vehicle
The Salzgitter Group and its Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH subsidiary have now received extended approval for the SECURE 500® steel grade from the Bundeswehr Technical Center (Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 91, WTD 91) in accordance with the TL 2350-0000 Technical Delivery Conditions.
The SECURE 500® steel grade is now officially approved for use in the military sector in thicknesses ranging from 6 to 25 millimeters, for example in vehicles or protective systems. Together with the new SECURE 450® steel grade, which has now also gained approval, more than 50 percent of the steel required for many military vehicle variants can be supplied.
In connection with the first approvals for SECURE 400® and SECURE 600® expected in the very near future, it will then even be possible to provide the almost total steel requirements with steel from Ilsenburg. The approvals confirm the high quality and reliability of the steel grades and demonstrate Salzgitter AG's expertise as a partner for sophisticated defense applications.
This expertise is underlined by the fact that Salzgitter AG recently passed the audit and was approved as a preferential new A-supplier of SECURE steel grades by a major system house. Talks are also ongoing with other system houses and steel samples are currently being made available.
