Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH forms part of the Steel Division of the Salzgitter Group. Beyond the production of heavy plates, the Steel Division comprises production facilities for strip steel and sections as well as processing lines for the automotive and construction industries.

All Salzgitter AG's plate production operations are concentrated In Ilsenburg, with part of the plate manufactured being further processed by the company's own plate processing facilities in Salzgitter.

The tradition of metal processing in Ilsenburg can be traced back to the year 1595 when the Ilsenburger Kupferhammer was founded.

Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH produces approx. 800,000 tons of heavy plate per annum with a workforce of approx. 800 employees.

The product range of Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH comprises general structural steels, heat resistant and cold-rolled tough steels for pressure vessels, shipbuilding steels, case-hardened and quenched and tempered steels, stainless and acid resistant steels, special high-tensile steels and high-tensile wear resistant steels.
