The Sabratah Platform (Libya)

The Salzgitter group has supplied materials for the construction of platforms all over the world since the very beginning of offshore exploration. A current example is the Sabratha platform, from which gas and oil have been extracted since 2005 at a distance of approximately 110 km from the Mediterranean coast of Libya. ILG received an order for the supply of approx. 9,000 to. of heavy plate for this project, which is one of the largest in the world. The platform has a jacket of approx. 200 m, 13 m of which are above sea level. The platform is completed by a heavy production deck with an approximate weight of 12,000 to., a residential facility for approx. 100 people with a helicopter landing area, an extraction system and a flare.
