Comparison between Steel Grades

The following link will take you to a comparative overview that has been drawn by a technical study group of the Rolled Steel Association (Walzstahlvereinigung).

This steel grade comparison shows a selection of the most important ASTM grades for the heavy plate product range that is encountered in practice in Europe. The comparison has become necessary because, in the opinion of the participating heavy plate manufacturers, the other officially accessible documents are not always factually correct. In individual cases incorrect allocations can, under certain circumstances, have serious consequences in the case of the other published comparisons, in particular for pressure vessel steels.

The relevant European steel grades compared in this comparative overview is often only suitable as an approximation, because the manufacturing concepts and the philosophy relating to the standards can differ between the USA and Europe. The parameters that differ more or less intensely for the individual steel grades are summarized in note form in the last column in each case.

Detailed consultation of the customer upon order placement or in advance by the relevant supply plant is considered to be absolutely necessary for these steel grades.
